Classes

Consult this topic for basic information of the four playable classes here on Paths of Rebirth. As always, please consult this guide BEFORE creating your character to assure you understand how each one works here. The information here will be general and give some small outlines on how the application's criteria should be handled as well as giving you some guidelines on what we would prefer not to see in RP.

As always, be original! No Gary Stu or Mary Sues. Above all else though, have fun picking and playing your class. We want the community to be diverse and fun.

Shinigami

Shinigami are the gods of death that act as the enforcers of peace, justice, and order in Soul Society. They are also in charge of monitoring and protecting the cycle of souls as humans die, come to soul society, and are reborn in the human world again.

Souls are not "born" as Shinigami. The souls of those that are destined to be Shinigami are born in Soul Society like any other. It is their capacity, their latent power, that gives them the ability to eventually become a Shinigami. The only obvious exceptions to this norm are the noble families. Those born to the noble families are almost ALWAYS at least capable of becoming powerful Shinigami.

The gift of spiritual power is not always a good thing. For most children in Rukongai, it becomes quite an issue. Normal plus souls do not have to eat, but souls with power must ingest food. Rampant hunger, and other issues plague souls born with power, and no way to support themselves. Many Shinigami hold these memories hidden away inside themselves.

All Shinigami attended the academy before becoming unseated members of a division. It was there they learned how to develop their abilities in kido and zanjutsu. During this time, they also received their Asauchi, or unnamed blade, that will in time become their Zanpaktou.

Shinigami live very long lives if not ended prematurely. Some of the eldest captains have lived for more than a thousand years at a time, some even more than that. Most captains over in the 450+ year mark, but there are some exceptions.

Shinigami Basic Character & RP Guidelines

Shinigami should start out at 60-120 years old. Some exceptions can be made, but to get through the academy and such takes a while, not to mention being discovered to be good enough to even be taken into the Academy.
When creating your character, you will be filling out Shikai information. You start with a limited amount of techniques. Use them wisely.
Higher ranking members in the Gotei 13 do not leave Soul Society often. However, unseated and lower seated officers have the right to travel if they desire.
Shinigami do not make friends with hollows. Play your character's persona, but don't go too far out of the established universe norms.
Shinigami can not be seen in the real world by humans, other than spiritually aware ones, without having a Gigai.

Shinigami Unlockables

Bankai is unlocked by obtaining B rank as a shinigami then purchasing the required skill in the shop.

Hollow

Hollows are corrupted souls of humans who, through one of many reasons, stayed in the human world too long and transformed. Normal hollows possess small amounts of spiritual pressure and long to eat souls that also possess latent spiritual pressure. Thus these creatures are drawn to humans, many fullbringers, with higher levels of spiritual awareness. Most of these hollows are driven by that desire only, but there are exceptions where particularly devious souls retain their intellect and become far more dangerous than their bumbling counterparts.

All hollows wear masks and are missing their hearts. Their heart vanishes when their soul chain completely disappears and the transformation begins. Hollow masks are symbolic of the obsession the human had in their life, thus when it is destroyed by a shinigami, the soul is purified and allowed to go into soul society unless the human was specifically evil. In that case, the soul is relegated to hell.

The second classification of hollows are the menos class, which is divided up into three levels. The first menos class is called gillian. They possess very large bodies, but are basically only driven by instinct. They are the grunt level of hollow. The second class is called Adjuchas. These are menos that have eaten other menos and evolved. They gain a much higher level of intelligence and even possess a power specific to them. The final class of menos hollow are the vasto lordes. They are the strongest hollow form and often look very close to human.

Hollows are born by losing the heart when one is a plus. This transformation causes the person to become crazed, often killing or destroyed their purpose for having stayed behind upon their death. After that, almost all hollows lose whatever intelligence they had, and thus their memory from when they were human. Similarly, Adjuchas class hollows have no memory of the time before they were born from a conglomeration of gillian-class eating each other.

Hollow Basic Character & RP Guidelines

Hollow characters on this site start as Adjuchas that have just been born.
Hollows do not enjoy playing friends with Shinigami, Quincy, or Humans. Technically, they don't even like other hollows. Just keep that in mind when you are RPing. Interact with people, but remember your racial tendencies. You want to eat people!
Hollow are allowed to go wherever they want save Soul Society. You can still go there, just remember that it would normally result in your death. Try to keep these visits sparing.
Hollows fight other hollows, and you are adjuchas. We don't have a system for regression, so you are safe;but this should be something that is forefront in your hollow's mind. If you don't eat, you regress.
Like Shinigami, you cannot be seen in the human world except by spiritually aware humans.
Because we consider your "birth" when you became an adjuchas, keep your age relatively young. You haven't eaten enough hollows or humans to become strong, so you couldn't have been around like 300 years. Try to stay less than 100. You can update this later.

Hollow Unlockables

Transformation into Vasto Lordes is unlocked by obtaining B rank and purchasing the transformation from the shop.

You must be an Arrancar before you can unlock Resurrección or Segunda Etapa.

Quincy

A once scattered race of people who derived their ancestry from ancient magic hunters, the Quincy are now a central group of spiritually attuned humans who specialize in the destruction of hollows. They are highly trained mediums that believe in taking the war against hollows into their own hands.

Their relationship with the shinigami is also a strained one. The problems between them lay in the way each deals with the removal of hollows. As shinigami purify and pass on the souls of hollow to soul society, quincy simply exterminate them, causing conflict within the governing balance shinigami strive to maintain.

Since times past the quincy have refused to relinquish the situation of hollows solely to the shinigami and as a direct result have been persecuted by them. The shinigami have put efforts into dwindling their numbers in order to control their populace for sake of monitoring to protect their own interests in maintaining balance with the flux of souls.

In terms of combat the Quincy are similar to Shinigami in that they also manipulate Reiryoku, although stylistically they are polar opposites. Quincy absorb and use the reishi in the atmosphere to manifest weapons, while Shinigami use the Reiryoku generated by their own soul. Namely this is done to create their trade mark bow which is honed and focused through a Quincy cross that is normally in the shape of a Zeichen and bestowed to all those who have awakened their Quincy abilities.

Quincy Basic Character & RP Guidelines

Normaly Quincy follow the natural rule of age for humans. There are some exceptions like the Quincy leader canon, but for most characters, stick with the laws of nature.
Quincy are humans, and their main friends are other humans. They absolutely do not like hollows, and their relationship with shinigami is strained. You can try to be nice to shinigami, but when you meet a hollow as a quincy, most quincy would attack first and ask questions second.
Quincy are allowed to go anywhere in the human world. In order for them to enter either Hueco Mundo or Soul Society, they must be led in which in both cases could be very bad for whoever led them in as well as the quincy unlucky enough to find themselves in a world that does not like them.
Quincy have jobs and lives, but consistently train themselves to be ready against hollows. There is also an academy that most young quincy have gone through. Being a quincy is a gift, try to have your character reflect that.
Unlike Shinigami and Hollow, Quincy fight with their human bodies which means they can be seen by non-spiritually aware humans.

Quincy Unlockables

Divine Bow is unlocked by becoming B rank and making the corresponding purchase in the shop.
Quincy: Vollständig is unlocked by already having the Divine Bow purchase, obtaining A rank, and making the Vollständig purchase in the shop.

Human

Humans, for the sake of BPR, are split into two different categories. Normal humans without the ability to sense spirits; civilians if you will. And humans capable of harnessing their spiritual energy in order to fight. These humans have learned the ability of Fullbring in order to defend themselves and fight the spirits that move about their world silently.

Fullbring is an ability that allows those who were born with traces of hollow reiryoku inside of themselves to harness and manipulate the soul that resides in all matter. All matter has a soul. All objects, air, water, and everything in between can be manipulated by fullbringers in the human world. This can be used in an almost infinite number of ways, making Fullbringer humans some of the most flexible combatants in existence.

Fullbring users normally fight with the same object over and over. The object is something that they define as precious, something that they have pride or hate for. Strong emotion must be associated with the object for affinity to manifest itself. But this specific item is drawn out and manipulated to have great power depending on the individual's skill at fullbring.

Because of the required traits a user of fullbring must have, many of its users come from dark pasts where family members had been attacked and killed by hollows. Even further, the time that the fullbring ability actually manifests itself can vary from human to human. Seeing spirits and being able to sense spiritual pressure can be traumatic for a human. Many of the Fullbring users are full of angst toward the world and other spiritual beings. Of course, there are exceptions

Human Basic Character & RP Guidelines

Humans follow the natural rules for human age whether they are fullbringers or civilians. You can start at any age, though your fullbring should be semi-new to allow for growth.
Humans can try to get along with anyone, though hollows will more than likely try to eat you because of your abundant spiritual energy.
Humans are typically stranded in the Human world unless they are allowed into the other worlds. Admittance into Soul Society is extremely rare, and a trip into Hueco Mundo would most likely result in becoming dinner as there is no way back.
Like Quincy, humans fight with their physical body. They can be seen by other humans and must be careful not to show their power.
Humans can have any jobs and live basically anywhere in the Human World. Feel free to get creative.

Human Unlockables

Secondary Fullbring is unlocked by obtaining C rank and making the corresponding purchase in the soul shop.
Universal Fullbring is unlocked by obtaining A rank and making the purchase in the shop.
